When we were choosing the range for House of Faith Hair, we kept coming back to the same things: how the hair felt, how naturally it moved, how well it styled and, importantly, how well we expected it to last.
That is why we chose to build the collection around two types of hair: premium virgin human hair and premium single-donor human hair.
They are both high-quality options, but they are not quite the same.
What is virgin human hair?
Virgin human hair is human hair that has not been chemically processed before collection. It is known for its softness, natural movement and styling flexibility.
Virgin hair can come from more than one donor. When it is carefully selected and matched, it can still give a very natural finish and excellent performance.
We use premium virgin human hair in some of our styles because it gives the softness, fullness and movement we want, particularly in bouncier and more textured looks.
It can be washed, styled and heat-treated with care, and with the right maintenance it can give years of wear.
What is single-donor human hair?
Single-donor hair comes from one donor rather than being blended from several different sources.
Because the hair comes from the same donor, the strands tend to be more consistent in texture, colour and cuticle alignment. That can give the hair a particularly smooth, natural finish and can also help it maintain its quality over time.
We use premium single-donor hair in styles where we want the highest level of consistency, a very natural finish and excellent longevity.
With the right care, good-quality single-donor hair can last for many years.
What about Remy hair?
You will often see the term Remy hair used online and in wig shops.
Remy generally refers to human hair where the cuticles are kept aligned in the same direction. That can help reduce tangling and improve the feel of the hair.
However, Remy does not automatically mean that the hair is virgin, single-donor or of a particular quality or lifespan. The term covers a very wide range of products.
We decided not to build the House of Faith Hair range around Remy hair because longevity and consistency are important to us. We wanted to be more specific about what our customers are actually buying.
That is why we describe our products as either premium virgin human hair or premium single-donor human hair, depending on the wig.
So which is better?
It really depends on what you want from your wig.
Virgin human hair can be a very good choice if you want softness, movement, fullness and styling flexibility.
Single-donor hair may suit you better if you are looking for maximum consistency, a particularly smooth finish and the longest possible lifespan from your wig.
For us, it is not about using one type of hair for every style. It is about choosing the right hair for the finished look.
Some styles work beautifully in virgin hair because the softness and movement suit the texture. Others benefit from single-donor hair because consistency and longevity are more important.
How long should a human hair wig last?
There is no single answer because lifespan depends heavily on how the wig is worn and cared for.
How often you wash it, how much heat you use, whether you colour or lighten it, how you store it and how frequently you wear it will all make a difference.
As a general rule, well-cared-for premium virgin human hair can give years of use, while high-quality single-donor hair can last even longer.
That is also why we include care guidance with our products and recommend treating your wig in the same way you would treat good-quality natural hair.
Choosing your House of Faith Hair wig
You do not need to become an expert in hair terminology before choosing a wig.
On every House of Faith Hair product page, we tell you clearly whether the wig is made from premium virgin human hair or premium single-donor human hair, along with the lace type, cap size, texture and other important details.
We would rather be clear about what you are buying than rely on vague industry terms.
The right choice comes down to the look you want, how you plan to wear the wig and what matters most to you — whether that is softness, movement, texture, consistency or longevity.
